youth ministries
Children are arguably the most important part of a church congregation. They are the future of the church, and they have the most to learn!
Oakland has continued to invest in ministering to our youngest attendees, with great strides made for both youth and our Next|Gen ministries in the last few years. We have a dedicated group of members who teach youth programs. Kids learn differently than adults. At Oakland, there are different levels of learning for different ages of children. There are also different learning opportunities to meet youth where they are, making it easier for them to understand God's Word and grow spiritually. Youth also benefit from learning alongside peers their age. |
We have many volunteers that interact with kids in the different capacities listed below. The more personal relationships kids have at the church, the more likely they are to feel safe and connected at church, allowing them to grow in their faith, and thus, with Christian values.
Oakland Christian Church is a Safe Sanctuaries® church, requiring all adults who interact with your children to be Safe Sanctuaries® certified. We also require all chaperones and teachers to establish themselves in the church and submit to a criminal background check.

CHILDREN'S SUNDAY EVENTS
Children's Church
During the Sunday sermon, youth ages 5-10 are invited to Children's Church, with a tailored weekly message for this age group. Children will hear a message and do an activity to help them learn about God and His Word. Sunday School During our Sunday School hour before our weekly service, 9:30-10:30 AM, there are now FOUR youth classes that meet to learn a weekly lesson. These groups meet at the same time as the adults, so that parents can enjoy an adult lesson as well. Kids are divided into teen, elementary and pre-school groups to learn age-appropriate Bible-based lessons. |

adult ministries
Sunday School
Adults have the opportunity to come together on Sundays before service, 9:30-10:30 AM, for a deep dive into God's word and applying it to our daily lives. There are two separate classes: one for working-aged adults (18 and up) and one for those who are more mature in their faith. Classes are taught by a peer from that age group and allow for conversation about applying God's word in our current season of life. |
Bible Study
Adults meet Tuesday nights from 7-8 PM for weekly Bible study. These studies are often presented as a series. Focus can range from specific books of the Bible to other Christian literature or video series.
Women's Ministries
The ladies of the congregation often work together as volunteers, running events and helping in other areas, but they also like to make time for fun! At least once a month, the ladies plan a night of fellowship for themselves. Ladies of all ages attend these events, and excitedly welcome newcomers! See the church calendar on the Schedule tab or the Facebook page for more information and the next event!

Men's Ministries
Men work hard being the spiritual leaders of the church and the home. At times, the men need to come together to get support and learn from each other. From breakfast to cornhole, the men enjoy a break from the grind. See the calendar for upcoming events.

All-age Fellowship Events
Our congregation makes an effort to plan at least one event per month where all ages - kids and adults - join together for fun and fellowship. Everyone is welcome to join in! Additionally, we try to come together to celebrate big events for members of our church family. Bring the kids and some friends, and join us at the next event! Music Ministries
Our church has many volunteers who enjoy singing on the Sunday Praise Team, providing special music, or singing in our church choir. If you enjoy playing an instrument or singing, speak with Jackie Kingery, our Director of Music Ministries, or Becky Welty, Choir Director, for more information on how you can serve in this ministry. |
