On October 8, Mark Sanders accepted the pastor position at Oakland Christian Church. Mark and his wife Connie were both raised in Clinton County, and currently reside in the rural Frankfort area. They have been blessed with 4 kids and 3 grandsons (who they love to spoil). Mark has been pastoring bi-vocationally in the Frankfort area for the past 6 years, recently retiring after 30 years of service at Frito Lay, and Connie is currently finishing up her student teaching at Suncrest Elementary in Frankfort. They look forward to furthering the ministry at Oakland, as well as serving the people of the local community, in whatever capacity that God leads. Mark's approach to ministry is both simple and impactful: "I believe the God of the Bible is real, alive, and powerful, and desires to reveal his majesty through our lives, as we strive to trust and obey his word. The message of the Gospel is not a matter of where we have been or what we have done, but what He has done for us through Christ on the cross. I believe He is a God who is in the business of making 'messes into masterpieces'. I hope to inspire, encourage, and challenge Oakland church as we move forward in this exciting ministry." Mark begins his tenure on Sunday November 5, and looks forward to meeting the Oakland family and surrounding community. Please keep the Sanders family and Oakland church in your prayers as they make this transition.
